Kramer on Lean Start-up - “Why don’t you just tell me the name of the movie you selected.”
Accomplish something.
“I was an overnight success all right, but 30 years is a long, long night.” — Ray Kroc
It always, always takes longer than you think.
Having a core and knowing your audience will help you get there, especially when it feels like you’re not moving.
Managers set the tone
Are you excited? Do you believe? Are you honest? Do you do the hard work? Are you real? Do you serve? Do you listen? Do you have fun? Do you care? Do you encourage? Do you set high standards? Do you have difficult conversations? Do you push for more? Do you relax? Are you happy? Do you set the example? Do you lead?
Managers set the tone for the whole team.
What keeps you from doing your something great?
What keeps you from doing your good work? The work that you know will fulfill you. The work that deep down drives you. The work that makes up your dreams.
What keeps your from it?
Is it your chores? Is it your job? Is it the stuff around the house? The lawn? The TV? Your email? Your list staring you down every time you think about making a move on that dream? The kids? Your spouse?
What’s your excuse?
Identify it. Prioritize it.
Kill the stuff that stops you. Talk to the people who can help you.
When we’re done on earth, we won’t be known for our busyness and the chores we completed. Let yourself be known for the good work you did, the lives your changed and by the people you inspired.
Grow.
